>>1152Think there are at least 2 (newly introduced) layers of "defense" against spam. First is simply denying the post when any "properly formed" link is posted (like with proto and all) - regardless of you entering that additional captcha, your post is going to be denied, i.e. "clickable" links are forbidden. Second is that captcha which flips on some weird rules, mostly when you type a dot in some pattern (also reacts to the "dot" word lol which is wise) - IDK how well it works because it's not unlikely you can bypass it by disabling javascript (haven't tried it though). They are clearly 2 distinct layers because one can remember the first one being implemented some time before the 2nd one hehe.
Adam says it's a person who does the spam and not a bot but I have my doubts (cannot deny the possibility though). Hence I am not sure how efficient our defense against the botted spam is but eh, I have no reason to argue for disabling it because otherwise we don't have any protection and it clearly does something (the spammer is forced to butcher their links).
