WORTH THE HYPE?? NEW Herta Frankfurter Sausages” and it’s from the channel
Bald Foodie Guy (the bald foodie guy). It’s one of those classic YouTube food reviews where some dude goes to the supermarket, buys something new, cooks it, tastes it and tells you whether it’s worth it or pure shit.
The guy starts at
Tesco (the British supermarket, like Walmart but more British and with an accent). He’s walking around and comes across these
new Herta products (he sometimes says “Horter,” but it’s the Herta brand, known for its sausages and processed meats). They’re new
Frankfurter sausages in two flavors.
1.
The jumbo jalapeño ones: four large sausages, smoked with natural beechwood, jalapeño flavor. Weight 360g, more expensive (around 3.5 pounds).
2.
The curry ones: smaller, 210g, also smoked with beechwood, curry flavor. Cheaper (about 2.5 pounds).
Both can be frozen, must be kept refrigerated, and once opened should be eaten within 3 days. The packaging has the British nutritional traffic-light system, an “FR” stamp (France, where the brand originally comes from) and the ingredients: 73% pork.
The rest is water, spices, etc. The curry one only has 0.65% curry powder and the jalapeño has a ridiculous 0.06% green jalapeño powder. What a fucking tiny amount! The guy laughs at how little flavor they put in.
Then he puts on his glasses (because he’s a bit blind or drunk) and reads the instructions: they can be cooked in lukewarm water (not boiling), in a pan or in the microwave. He decides to fry them in a pan with a little oil because he’s always boiled them and wants to change it up. He cuts the jumbo ones in half so they brown better.
There’s a moment of “cross-contamination” when the flavors mix a bit on the cutting board, but he uses it to show the inside: you can see herbs and bits of jalapeño/curry inside.
He cooks them for about 4-7 minutes, flipping them. He uses a thermometer and they reach 87-88°C (safe to eat). Then he tastes them:
•
The curry ones: He loves them! Very juicy, tasty, the curry flavor is extremely light (you can barely taste the 0.65%), but the beechwood smoke dominates and it turns out delicious. Very salty (like all processed sausages), but “wow, this is delicious.” He recommends them with bread, ketchup, mustard or a bit of curry sauce on the side.
The jalapeño ones: Also good and juicy, but the heat is very, very mild. Just a slight background warmth. He says they’re good, but not as good as the curry ones. If they were the same size and juiciness as the jumbo ones, they’d be better. Also salty as fuck (he needs a liter of water afterward).
At the end he concludes: the curry ones are worth it and are the winners; the jalapeño ones are fine but the flavor is way too light for the hype.
He mentions that there’s no AI on his channel (he complains that YouTube is full of artificial intelligence channels), that he’s a real human, and that he used to eat similar sausages as a kid.
All in his relaxed style, talking to the camera, showing the packaging, the inside and making “hmm, delicious” faces. In short, little bastard: it’s a typical cheap supermarket food review video.
A bald guy buys new Herta sausages at Tesco, fries them, tastes them and tells you that the curry ones are good (even though the curry is almost nonexistent) and the jalapeño ones are okay but won’t burn your tongue.
