>>304110The video is titled "
I Review The Best Burger in America! (I Traveled 4000 Miles)" and it’s by a Brit*sh guy named
Gary Eats (from the Gary Eats channel).
The dude is totally obsessed with finding
"the best damn burger in the world," so he flew from the UK to New York, (literally traveling about 4,000 miles) just to try the place everyone kept recommending:
Hamburger America.
It’s the restaurant owned by
George Motz, the ultimate US burger guru; the guy who’s made documentaries and written books on the subject, and whom people consider the god of ground beef.
The video kicks off with Gary arriving on West Houston Street in New York, spotting the
"Hamburger America" sign, and making a lame joke: "Hamburger America… Captain America."
He walks in and places his order like a polite yet savvy guy: he goes for the Fried Onion Burger (George Motz’s signature, with fried/caramelized onions), the Classic Smash Burger "all the way" (with mustard, diced onions, and pickles), fries, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and (for good measure) a hot ham sandwich.
All this happens while he chats with the staff, who call him "my brother" and tell him it’s the number one spot in New York.
The coolest part of the video is when the burgers arrive and the guy actually gets nervous, yes, nervous over a damn burger.
He starts with the Fried Onion Burger, adds the pickles on the side (the staff recommends not adding anything else), and takes that first bite… letting out a "Bloody hell, it’s good."
He talks about how you can really taste the meat, how well-seasoned it is, how the caramelized onions add an incredible sweetness, and how the bun has a sweet touch without being brioche.
Then he tries the meat on its own and is absolutely blown away by how good it tastes. He compares it to other smash burgers he’s had (where the meat gets lost under a mountain of toppings) but not here: here, the meat is the star.
The price: around $7.75. He says he’d take this over a damn McDonald’s Quarter Pounder any day of the week.
He describes the fries as crispy and a solid portion size. The lemonade does a killer job of cleansing the palate. But things go south when it comes to the hot ham sandwich: he notes that the ham is paper-thin (wafer-thin, really), the cheese tastes synthetic, and the quality just doesn’t justify the price (around $7.50).
He really hits the nail on the head here, calling it nothing special.
Throughout the video, he also chats with a family from Brooklyn who are regulars, and a young girl, a singer—who polishes off a triple burger like it’s nothing.
The place looks clean, the staff is friendly, you can watch them sear the patties right in front of you, and there’s both indoor and outdoor seating.
Gary leaves happy with the burgers (especially the fried-onion one and the smash burger) and makes it clear that George Motz definitely knows his stuff.
In short, you little bastard: it’s pure, unadulterated food porn, an obsessed Englishman traveling halfway across the globe just to tell you whether the “best burger in the United States” is actually worth it. Spoiler alert: the burgers are, the ham sandwich—not so much.
And it’s all delivered in classic Gary Eats style: straight-up, with a British accent, some silly jokes, and no filter whatsoever.
