If comparing Nazis to Soviets of the time then yea, perhaps Soviets were about as bad as far as being "humane" goes. Again, not sure about the metrics but both engaged in some genocidal practices though Soviets were more keen on classicide I guess. One thing that was particularly icky about Nazis is pretty much their Final Solution - they determined that Jew=bad basically by birth which denied them any possibility of salvation and was built on mystical/shaky grounds - that is plain animosity and perhaps Germans got that massive shaming precisely because they were seen as nations of philosophers and poets, not savages, while Soviet crimes aren't that well known to people who don't study them and Russia is cold also dark also evil place anyway so kinda whateves w
