As a whole British/Anglo cuisine mayhaps isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. After all, French also eat bread with cheese and ham; whereas Mexicans also eat beans…

But if you put a little effort you can uplift even the simplest beans to taste and look better.

In the simplest terms: would you rather eat a steak with salt or without salt? Sure you could eat a steak without any saltwhasoever; but chances are you sprinkle some salt to that shit to enhance the meat's flavor. That's more or less roughly the problem with a large chunk (if not all) British cuisine.

Like sure, chances are would probably bang them if they they didn't put on any make up. But when women actually take the time (or their producers, whatever) to put on make up and pretty clothes; they look much better. Bechamel is literally just butter, milk and flour. I mean yeah of course it tastes good, I'm not disputing that, everyone loves butter. Also I feel like the whole British food is uniquely bland thing is just a meme from online yanks who have never eaten any British food and are just joining the newest trend on the computer. It's probably some Brit inside joke (English humor always so fun and quirky!) that foreigners took literally (so they could bully Brits online).
Slav cuisine is also very homely comfort food iyam. Kompots, varienikis, chicken kyiv, holubtsy, pierogis… I regard all this as comfort food myself.
Just yeah you also got the occasional mystery meat abomination such as kholodets…
Funnily enough I think slavs and nordicks use more spices and herbs than Brits.
