Comics are conservative, well, most of them. They never question violence or power, so, actually, most base comics take place in a fascistic state where the protagonist is ideal fascistic hero

(There are good comics. Like Watchmen. But most comics are very conservative.) Its actually very intetesting that comic heroes never change or age and dat they help police and that the villians in those comics are extremely ingenious but superheroes are very dumb

was reading synopsis for gaia gear and it had this:
"While he is waiting for the ship, he meets and quarrels with a bigoted stranger who tells Affranchi that the white man is humanity's elite, destined to rule over the lesser races."
and seems to have some other white supremacist characters too

in the mobile suit gundam animo any kind of ethnic makeups for zeon or federation aren't that clear, other than zeon ppl having slightly more fantastic names. so gonna read the book in the future, and that gundam fact file issue

I know very little about Gundam… I just read racial, geopolitical and colonial and thought it was comics. Any way, you are right, but in comics villians are not without powers though. It is just very striking dat villians are very creative, they want to create new world, they have plans for humanity. And heroes are anti that, heroes are anti creative, they are reactionary. Not all of comics like dat, but overwhelming majority of them are, and reason for this is exactly apologia of imperialism…

No, well, the main problem of villians in schlock commics is directly their creativity. It is not a matter of morales, but of creativity. Basically, superheros teach young people to be unimaginative

(Reason for this is fantasy as a whole. Fantasy exist as an imaginig of a world without bureaucracy. But with time, it has become bureaucrtized fully. So, the point? Westerners dream of heroic societies because there would be adventure free from bureaucratic oversight. Superheroes then are imagined heroes in a heroic society, but with a twist, they exist and must obey bureaucratic state. Superheroes are directly employed by the state and they crush anyone who disagrees with the state. So, in this way, they exist in a fascist state and heroes are fascistic heroes. Fascistic heroes are a real thing, to be clear)

Well, Batman for example. Batman basically is a billionare beating up lower classes. But he is a broken man, he is hardly normal. He is lowkey insane because only insane would be taking a mantle and beat up people

But his adversaries are always ingenious. They always want to take over the world. They always have followers, they are always do so out of some injusrice. Villians in Batman comics want a more just world for themselves, and they fight out of desperation. Because the state literally opresses them, they have no outlet for improving the world around them other than to disobey the state

The state tolerates Batman and helps him because he deals with the enemies of the state

So, it is not so simple to say that villians are just nuanced to show an moral example. In fact, if there is a moral example, it is profoundly conservative

So, wat I wanted to say is dat comics are mostly conservative. Though, today there are more woke comics too. But it is fascinating, comics literally depict heroic societies and all heroes do in them is to work as state's(sometimes as private corporate) henchmen. This really got me wondering about wat my Great Friend thinks about fantasy, myth and heroes…
