I decided to watch Demon Slayer but now I clearly see that it is just military propaganda thinly veiled in artistic performance

First of all, Demon Slayer feels like it is an intensly biographical work. It centers around family, (which is a traditional unit of military organization(conscription)), and the virtues of a family. Why Tanjiro has like five siblings? There is no explanation to this isnt there

Then it follows the typical hero path, tragedy and hope of rebounce. The anime itself is contradictory on whole demons shtick, once Tanjiro said that Nezuko judged demons to be humans, implying that distinction is blurry and mostly has to do with the order of things or morality. Wat does Tanjiro join? Military, it the direct sense of this term. He trains, he survives, he thinks about demons. He respects demons as humans, why is dat so? Because he pihies them, as humans, the meaning is not lost - demons are enemies, but even enemies deserve pithy, a very common paradox in military propaganda

Then the series center around virtue. Tanjiro is intensly virtuos and hits all the notes of wat an exemplar soldier must be. He never disobeys, he always respects order, he protects always, he is sacrificial and respects hierarchy

Most striking reason why it is just military propaganda is in its simplicity. Demons and humans, and from it follows all, demons are killers of humans and humans are killers of demons by nescessity. So, demons are portrayed as repulsive savages that whole purpose being to eat humans, because that is their biological base. (Thoughout most of history, enemies/barbarians were seen as inferior in every respect). But the series try to force the good savage image, there are some demons which like humans and want to be humans again. Why must demon want to be human? This is a contradiction, but explanation is that they were once humans. But they never can be humans again, it is implied. So, the good demon image then is both colloborant and a traitor, someone who benefits for some impenetrable reason the agressor

Tanjiro then, noble mountainman, comes from naivete to resolve in killing demons. (Thats purpose of all drill sergeants, Tengu mask). Because demons kill humans and dat is bad, so, killing demons is only option. The eye for eye is implicit in this show, because there could be no other option. The heroes are very unimaginative, they are dumb by design and that is why they are portrayed to be teenagers. Because young people are most loyal, most convinient soldiers that only get better with time if they survive. (This logic is also commonplace in mafia and family abuse)

There is also formal goverment implicit in the show. The name of the repellent of demons, Fuji, has very striking similarity to Fujiwara clan and it is hard not to notice this coincidence. The show has quite legibile Japanese hierarcy and it is designed that every Japanese would just get it, so there are hierarchies, obligations, value assumptions, and they are modeled after military both in structure and in spirit. So, the government is military itself

Demons then are no more than enemies watever enemies might be. There are no human enemies, they are by their biological basis are innocent of any thing so in this way Demon Slayer promotes eugenics but dat wouldnt be a surprise, Asia is like dat. Demons are just either savages/barbarians or smart/noble savages, there is no inbetween

And to close of, it is needed to say that how Tanjiro treats his own sister, Nezuko, is clearly a crime against humanity. She cannot speak for some reason even if she is fully lucid and understands his orders, she exist outside of the order and hierarchy, which makes her property of Tanjiro. It is unexplainable why Nezuko is just this doll that has feelings and mother instincts even though she is a demon, but the point is of course that she is a special demon, she is a collaborant, so Tanjiro can take away her entire agency, entire humanity for himself in exchange of recognition of her "humanity", in other words, dedication for her. Because she is "family", you see, even in "about to die space" moments the family visits her and asks her to wake up to help Tanjiro, underlining her "family" status. But truth of the matter is, Tanjiro cannot recognize her as family in her current biological condition, (even though Nezuko has no qualms about it at all), so he has to find a "cure". In short, he is in a constant denial, and Nezuko herself understands dat

No, Dragon Ball is far different, Dragon Ball is modelled after Chinese fantasy. Demon Slayer is modelled after Japanese military state

>Why Tanjiro has like five siblings?
bc it takes place in 1910s japan genius
>He never disobeys
yes he does he has his own moral compass that takes precedence (protecting nezuko for example, a demon)
>and that is why they are portrayed to be teenagers
lot r orphans w/ no place to go and there's high casualty rate

None of dat contradict wat I said. (It is not only Meiji, actually, Tanjiro said that they are in Taisho. But he moves from Edo style village to Meiji style city, its true). So, yeah, it is not a joke, Demon Slayer is directly inspired by military organization. (Orphans are now waste material? They cannot be adopted? Adoption is not foreign to Japanese at all, I dunno, ronin can be adopted even though thats not wat propaganda says. So, no, unimaginativity is a feature in this regard and they are meant to be teenagers because of trauma, many of people with military inclinations are traumatized)

yes they did. it's more like u again drew random premise to argue for from cards against humanity deck or something

it takes place ~1915, which is 1910s and taisho era.
>They cannot be adopted?
they can but the ones the story follows obv chose to instead help kill the demons that killed their parents or lover or watever. the demon slayers corp isn't recognised or condoned by government so there's little communication
most of the hashira being bit older since they have survived for x years

I dont understand, wat is the point, you dont even argue about wat I say you just say that Im being quirky and random, in other words, quite stupid for your tastes. Like, okay, sure, you dont like wat I say and it seem random, why then engage in rhetoric if you know dat Im really serious and gonna argue about it. I mean, isnt the point of you replying to me that you would want to talk with me and not some one else instead? You could not engage in rhetoric if you didnt like or thought Im stupid, so wat is really the point in engaging and saying that Im stupid? (The answer is, perhaps, that Im a Friend of yours)

None of dat contradicts wat I said. They have very clear hierarchy, very clear chain of command, very clear authority, very clear discipline. So, I dunno, it doesnt seem to be dat much outrageous to suggest that it is very, very closely resembles military. Because it is based on it, there is no alternative strucutre like dat, and if you know then tell me because I might be stupid

i'm not saying ur necessarily wrong, just that u seem to first have gotten the conclusion, then started selectively looking for evidence for it. i just wanted to comment on the few strangest points or observations u had, bc they were strange or wrong. there's no huge issues w/ the rest, but it still seems like backwards reasoning 2 me

to me it was at start more just mystery y the oyakata sama guy is in charge and every1 respects his authority etc, not some blind obedience thing. it wasn't just money or family name, he also has clairvoyance. well, u can also be right, the author wanted to do wat u say, and then had to built the world around to lead to just that. he wanted hierarchy etc, so had to give guy at top some real good reason to be there, no1 else could possibly do it, and same 4 all other points

It is not backwards reasoning, it is limitation of the format that I cant write too long

Any way, large families are not really a rarity and dats true. How ever, wat I meant to say by my whole post is that it is biographical, that the grounding is deceptively easy to understand as some thing real, it always feels that it is just a retold old story in fantasy form. Because it is like dat, it is biographical, and it shows like dat. Constant problems with family, constant theme about family, constant obsession with trauma, this is hard to create and make it believable, unless you lived it through and now you want to express your own experience like dat

So, I have no problem with creative expression. Actually, it is good for wat it tries to be, but when I watched it, I always had on mind Golden Kamuy. And Golden Kamuy was directly about Imperial Japanese army, any way, there is huge difference between Demon Slayer military and Golden Kamuy army, but they share a lot of characteristics

So, my point is dat it is intensly cultural characteristic of Japanese media that it is very closely inspired by military, in particular, Japanese one. It is, in some sense, an organizing principle. So, it is modeled on military, because thats how society would be organized when there was an inpenetrable enemy. There is hardly any other alternative structures, and it is not set in medieval times, there is no guilds or watever, it is one centralized structure where power flows from top to bottom

So, no. Point is not blind obedience. Samurai didnt obey blindly, but they were very loyal and respectful of authority, and Tanjiro is a samurai, so you cannot expect that he'll be just zombie. But Tanjiro is also a soldier, lives of other people depend on his judgement, so, his sister is really only thing he is adamant about, because without it there is no point to living, and hence, no point in being a soldier. A hudge problem to the military, because traumatized people have a tendency to do random violence

(Well, I like arguing, but I dont like guessing… So you see, while Im serious, there is no point in taking every thing I say really literally. Any way, sorry if I seem to be bellicose, it is just frustrating to feel dumb)

well, maybe some, or even many elements of it r about militarism, but the backwards is looking @ every other aspect of it w/ that same conclusion in mind. tho it can still be interesting exercise

This is somehow true for all russian posters here

In all seriousness it's all just ordinary asian hierarchical structures which makes sense considering the entire setting/plot is about fighting/training in early 20th century japan

but like hierarchies isn't even much of a focus of the show and it's weird to fixate on this specific thing.
The one difference about Demon Slayer is that it focuses more on the collective effort and cooperation, whereas other fighting anime: Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, etc
Focus more on individuals.
