But the big problem is that all the good men unironically died in the wars and much of the building culture was lost which means lots of prewar building features got lost and omitted, a good example is transom windows which share light and air between rooms without interfering with the doors. You can still see such features on old Budapest school buildings which survived the war. The USSR with their dicksucking culture didn't help rebuild either. People after the war lived in wooden shacks until building materials finally became affordable again and then with this degraded culture built very uncomfortable houses. I live in such house too.
