hs diploma here is kinda hard. it's 4 years normally, and u have to know 2 national languages. maybe i should have done it in finlan. or should just study hard

Can't you like finish high school with one long ass exam or some shit.
It's kinda redic they expect old ass nigga who never got their diploma to assist

In all seriousness hs diplomas are retarded, I don't think anyone asks them ever unless you are in your early 20s n getting into a retarded menial job.
I know a friend who never finished high school and right now approves projects on AutoCAD. Swiss ppl are probably more autistic but idk there gotta be a way.

And studying medicine is unironic a noble goal but you in for a ride.
If you like that kind of shit you should unironically take a coursework on nursery tbh.

i can but it's still a lot of stuff. here at least. doing it here w/o having gone to hs is supposedly very rare, bc it's not so simple. tho also probably bc there's other ways to enter uni, for all other faculties at least. but medical school and biology still require it. for good reason

I think that's a real prejudiced pov.
Nurses need doctors, doctors need nurses.
Nursery isn't as easy as many people think and overall is more useful to daily life than pure medicine.

It's like thinking scrum/QA/etc are bad if you aren't a dev.

Just an idea bro
Yes it's easier to do a 6 months coursework on nursery than 6 years studying Medicine but my point wasn't really on ease but rather cost & accessibility.

If you want medicine and feel like you got what it takes go for it for 6 years then yeah go for it.
Nothing wrong about listening other options you probably didn't give much thought inti

I og said coursework on nursery not becoming a nurse and yeah the shortest (they teach the basics) are like 6 months, the full range being 6 months - 3 years.

I would unitonically consider such thing rather than 6 years+ of medicine in uni
I know dozens of people irl studying medicine for a redic amount of time because it's very exhausting.

You have Swiss citizenship and Swiss safety net is better but in Finland you have family so it should be better choice if you are on better terms with family… If I were you I just applied to nearest university to family and lived with them, since that surely sounds a better deal than any thing else…

But dunno. If you like Geneva then there is no big choice then to make. Well, then you can only study hard, though, the university must be so competitive there you might as well apply to German one or some thing… I mean the remote university or some thing, we call it заочное in Asia

home in finlan is in small village. closest university is 2h away, and closest polytechnic 1h away. that's y it made so little sense for me to live there in terms of moving forward w/ life, even if it was comfy

so in finlan i would have to live on student aid and student loan in student apartment. well, there's little student aid here either (parents r normally expected to pay), but if i can get disability then i would have income during uni. while disability in finland is arbitrary and difficult to get

UNIGE isn't some elite university, so could get in

Was addicted for 4–5 years and managed to quit in my early 20s (I'm late 30s now).

Never really did any other crimes besides that but tbh I'm incredibly lucky I have a normal drug-free life now since it could easily have boned me for good.

Well, but weight of the polytechnic degree is the same, just polytechnic is more practice oriented so it is not so bad. I dont think 2 hours or 1 hour is dat big of a problem for university though, well, but yeah if there is no metro then you have to live in dormitory… but it still would help because you could go to family at any time and they could come too

No, there is no one… well, there is a brother in big city but we are not on good terms but dats all, no one to help with uni, no

Wat do you mean, only two times in life? Wat happen if you fail both? This sound really dumb… but probably the intention was dat only people with disability or watever couldnt pass other wise I dunno… But yeah, for wat I read there is no need in memorization of concepts. In biology you have to memorize stuff, but in thing related to humanities there is not a lot of them special words even if it looks like it, if you read humanities stuff youll just pick it up and dats it. So, yeah, some sciences do require memorization, linguistics for example is hard because many things you just have to memorize, in biology… I hard dat for cases like biology it is easier to memorize by just reading it over and over again. But for linguistic it never work…

eh i thought there was some1 else too

yeah dats wat it says in the rules, if u fail both then u can never again try. i haven't read discussions on it tho so don't know what's the reasoning exactly. probably just supposed to be more serious or traditional or sth. but it's pretty stupid when no neighboring country has something like that, afaik
i should get used to reading 200 pages a day or something, then slowly introduce more fact books to that
i think in humanities most of the terms r very explicit or obvious from the term itself, so there's not lot of unintuitive memorisation. tho humanities is pretty small part of those exams
well dunno wat u mean w/ linguistics, like language learning or linguistics proper or wat ? bc don't think they have linguistics in hs, as i understand the term

Nah, I dunno any one other than brother, if we talk about some where far from town

Damn, well, but it still is unclear wat happens if you just dont pass the second time… Do they just say dat you did or some thing? Dat is some dumb tradition…

Though, reading 200 pages a day is too high for education material, you are more likely to read somewat 60… which might sound low but if you read for comprehension it is reasonable

Well, in Asia, Russian language subject is about learning the language as it works in theory so it is no different from linguistics it is just has a focus and restricted domain. But it touches on all linguistic subjects, like grammar, syntax, …, so dat is wat I mean. Linguistics as a scientific field has no focus on a specific language and dats only difference between language as school subject. I always had problems with remembering and understanding all those linguistic term, including the how language is explained in school, because it tries to explain language in a language, and more often simplifying too much to point of unintelligibility… I read how university textbook talk about linguistic and now I think those language exams are most useless thing on existence…

ok it's hazy memories. wasn't far, just next city or sth. but yes, probably conflating sth. tho remember ur bro was studying in european side of russia too i think

ok i may have misunderstood sth about the rules. reading discussions, i don't find anything contradicting wat i had read, but i don't find any mentions of the limit either. so dunno. but having read more seems the whole test is easier nowadays, and it's rare for students to fail. so i had wrong image, thinking it's hard. tho still it's more advanced stuff than in most other countries

yeh 60 would be good too. tho i'm also counting re-reading. which i've never done b4, but assume is at about normal reading speed. so, re-reading tons, the average could get closer to dat 200

well sounds like that's more just grammar. like, case names etc, i never bothered to learn either, and they often use different names when talking about different languages, so that's y view it more as grammar than linguistics, tho maybe i'm wrong. but, i don't look forward to having to do that in french lol

Well, nah, none of brothers I know studied on European part of Russia…

So, its not so bad then? I imagine in Asia if kid struggles but only a little bit they let the guy graduate… wont help with the state exam though

Eh, I never re read. Ive read in college studying tips book is dat if you want to re read material, you must write notes which are useful, not re read actual book. Re reading book pages is useless and unproductive, if you take notes, make sure you create notes dat help you remembering. If you read book, you gotta finish it without re reading unless you just cant remember wat was previous paragraph, if you do intuitively feel dat you remember though, re reading wont help you… (Because just re reading wont help you understand more. So, you must take notes which help you to understand more, the better the notes, the better the understanding…)

No, it is not just grammar, in school they touch on all linguistic areas of a language. They use terms as they are used in actual linguistic, there is no difference, just in linguistic as science there is far more theory and far more concepts, far more information is pressnted… some times to contradiction to school language subject, because in school it is all severely dumbed down but it doesnt mean dat it is wrong or unscientific… (In linguistics, terms are stable and different languages are described in terms of features, and features are well defined and have stable meanings. So, yeah, it is actually very strict and dat is the difficulty)

Why would I remember dat? You know how useless dat is… remembering the IPA is a garangutan task on its own, Ive just ignored most phonetics and phonology. I mean, I know how to say every IPA sound, but no more than dat. I dont like every thing related to sounds in linguistic because it is far too much, it is far too difficult and focus so much on a single modality is not some thing I can put my time on. Dont get me wrong, sound is fundamental to understanding the language, sound is the foundation for all other, but is not so simple…

ok yekaterinburg or sth. well yeh so inaccurate i'm then just guessing basically

well, think the same applies that most kids in west just don't study. they don't read reading homework, and they just scrible something random in the homework exercise booklet. so all the standards are adjusted w/ that in mind, and if u just study u'll be among top students

i think i'm intellectually pretty lazy, and would just prefer something dumb and automatic like rereading, over thinking hard. but yeh i know latter is infinitely better
but also, knowledge can't accurately be reprecented linearly, u can't just read sth once. u have to reread w/ the whole thing in mind so then u fully understand the little details too. but yeh, i haven't properly learned how 2 study, so i'm not even sure wat i'm supposed to note down or use those highlight pens on etc

oh ok maybe it's then bit more advanced in rusia. we only had cases etc in elementary school, but then more just culture and reading in middle school. well ipa was just first thing that came to mind. i'm not linguistics pro
