i can write +2k chinese characters from memory now (committed to long term memory) including one-off ones like in 髑髏 or 薔薇 recognise ~2.5k (should around 3k for normal use, to read books w/o dictionary)

It dont add up, how many characters do you write per day? I mean, I try to practice writing daily but I struggle to do all the cards… Can you actually write meaningful words or you can only write characters and not words?

i have max interval on tthe recollection deck set @ 2 months. and i get 3-5% wrong (mostly simpler ones w/ homonyms that i confuse w/ each other). so it should be ~35 a day if they were flatly distributed, but it sometimes goes to 50-60 a day, which takes 10 to 15 minutes. all in all i've written a character 100-200k times (200-300h)

but yeh, they're still all just individual characters. compound words i haven't started doing properly yet. just have few of those, like 髑髏 or 薔薇, stuff w/ specific kanji. tho ofc could still write thousands of those, when the kanjis used r semantically obvious, but haven't yet started doing in big quantity for the ones dat aren't
