Thief 1 and 2 are spectacular fucking games, Thief 2 in particular is maybe my favourite game ever. Obviously I much prefer remasters to remakes, everyone has heard me get butthurt about remakes a million times. I usually prefer just playing the original game but if you need bigger polygon on the computer than fine. This is gonna be gay and pointless though, Nightdive Studios recently released a remaster of System Shock 2 which is another Looking Glass Studios game, where they did the typical make polygon bigger make game more bright thing whatever shit, but they also delisted the original System Shock 2 version from Steam, so now you can only buy their remaster which costs like 3 times as much as the original for a game released in the previous millenium lol. Despite the fact that from what I've heard the original game with visual mods had more graphic and more polygon and bigger light and bigger computer settings or whatever than the remaster, basically a cashgrab.
Idk man I don't get gamer's obsession with updating and remaking and remastering everything, just let old classics be old classics and make something new instead. Film fans aren't all soyfacing for a colour remake of Citizen Kane, literature enjoyers aren't all soyfacing for Shakespeare to be rewritten in modern wording, music fans aren't all soyfacing for Beethoven to get a trap remix

ALSO why is the thing with remasters always to make the original game or film brighter, it's like they assume it must have just been a mistake rather than artistic intent if the original image wasn't completely legible at all points. Like I am curious from people who haven't played Dark Souls because I might be biased. But I legit think if I had never played the game I would think that the original was the remastered version rather than the actual remaster. Everything in the remaster looks like a plastic action figure because the visual design of the game was specifically made to be darker
