I expected it to be a forced quasi rehash but it's got it's own thing.
Bonus points for using classic stop motion instead of relying entirely on computer animated slop made by underpaid pajeets.
It's both charming and authentic enough to feel like an actual sequel while still being faithful to the original movie.
Last but not least, do consider its just a silly spooky comedy made for children. The plot and characters aren't very complex and it's not to be taken too seriously.
